Mention SPOOM Mid-Atlantic when you register to get the preferred rate of $72 per night which includes taxes and fees. Five rooms with 2 double beds and ten rooms with a king-sized bed are being held March 22 and 23 until one week prior to the meeting. (The rate will be honored for an additional night before or after if requested.) All rooms are non-smoking. Breakfast is not included, but a Perkins restaurant is on site.

Friday, March 23 Bus Tour of Mills

8:15 am Board tour bus at the Clarion Inn & Conference Center for 8:30 departure

Giles Roller Mill, Bunker Hill WV (http://millpictures.com/mills.php?millid=1587) also known as Bunker Hill Mill and Chapman Roller Mill (Berkely County WV) was built in 1738 and rebuilt in 1890. The mill and grounds are not open to the public, but Mrs. Giles, one of the last descendants will give a tour of the mill and grounds. The mill is not operational, but is the only remaining of ten mills on Mill Creek.

Aldie Mill, Aldie VA (https://www.novaparks.com/parks/aldie-mill-historic-park) Built between 1807 and 1809, the Aldie Gristmill was once the largest factory of its kind in Loudoun County. The mill's tandem metal waterwheels are fully operational. The mill museum will be open and grinding will be demonstrated, weather permitting.

Box Lunch and Tour at Ayrshire Farms (http://www.ayrshirefarm.com/AyrshireFarm/AFHome.html), located near Upperville VA, is a certified organic farm, specializing in rare and endangered breeds of livestock and heirloom fruits and vegetables. It is a working manor farm committed to Certified Humane, organic, sustainable farming methods. The manor house has 140 rooms. Our host will be Sandra Lerner, an American businesswoman and philanthropist who co-founded Cisco Systems and used the money from its sale to pursue interests in animal welfare and women's writing.

Locke’s Mill, Berryville, VA 22611 In 2012 Jon and Carol Joyce lovingly completed the restoration of this mill whose site dates to 1751. Under new ownership, the mill now grinds organic grains. 6:15 pm Return to Clarion Inn & Conference Center. Dinner on your own; select from many restaurants on Valley Avenue just west of the Inn.

***Friday Tour Cost of $50 includes coach bus, driver gratuity, tour fees, and lunch. Register for bus tour by March 17th.

Saturday, March 24 Breakfast at Perkins or any other choice in the area.
Check out of the Clarion Inn.
Drive to Burwell Morgan Mill, 15 Tannery Lane, Millwood VA. From the hotel, follow US-50 E/US-17 S/US-522 S about 11 miles. Turn left onto Red Gate Rd/VA-255/VA-624 for 0.6 miles. Stay straight to go onto Millwood Rd/VA-255/VA-723. Continue to follow Millwood Rd/VA-723 for 0.2 mile to the mill.

9:30 am Tour and grinding demonstration at Burwell Morgan Mill (http://www.burwellmorganmill.org) The mill was built by Hessian POWs in 1782 at the end of the Revolutionary War by General Daniel Morgan and Nathaniel Burwell. The mill operated until 1952. Restoration started in 1964 by the Clarke County Historical Association. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is about 80% original.

A catered lunch and the chapter meeting on the second floor of the mill building will follow the tour.
