Mid-Atlantic Milling Day Celebrations


The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of SPOOM Board has declared May 29 to June 30 as Mid-Atlantic Milling Days 2016 to celebrate the importance and impact of milling in the Mid-Atlantic states. Individual sites are encouraged to select the day or days that best suit their site and schedule and plan activities to educate the public about their particular site as well as the general history of milling

2016 Events

June 11-12 Southern York County PA: featuring Eden Mill (former municipal power station), Woolen Mill (with Aeromotor windmills), Muddy Creek Forks Mill (commercial roller mill with grain elevators, general store and railroad) and Wallace Cross Mill (water-wheel powered custom mill)

June 19 Morris Arboretum Springfield Mills Demonstration with Insider Art & Crafts Show and Sale: Mill Tours from 1pm - 4pm and Art Show from 11am-4pm Historic Springfield Mills is restored and stone-grinding corn for meal and flour. Come explore revolutionary technology, local history, and a beautiful setting along the Wissahickon Creek, once home to over sixty water-powered mills.
